Happy Halloween!

Today we celebrated Halloween at school. The kids came in their costumes and were so excited. We had a Halloween parade in the morning. The kids brought in toiletry items to help with the parish service project. They used those as votes for their favorite teacher costume during the parade. The whole school was able to collect over 3,000 items to be donated to places like Anna's House and St. Vincent DePaul. It was a day full of excitement and fun! Here are some pictures to enjoy!

Happy Birthday Dana!

Yesterday we celebrated Dana's seventh birthday. She brought in Llama Llama and the Bully Goat by Anna Dewdney. This book was full of rhyming words and the kids loved it. We talk a lot about treating others the right way and not laughing at others or making fun of others. This book fit right in to those discussions. The characters are cute in the book and the kids loved listening to it. Thanks Dana for another great addition to our classroom library!

Happy Birthday Johnny!

Today we celebrated Johnny's birthday. His birthday was over Fall Break, so we had to wait until we had come back to celebrate. Johnny brought in National Geographic Kids: Everything Dogs by Becky Baines with Dr. Gary Weitzman. Once again, this book is perfect for this class. They love reading nonfiction books and this one is full of great facts for them to read about. It is another great addition to the classroom library.

Happy Birthday Jack!

Before Fall Break, we celebrated Jack's seventh birthday. Jack brought in National Geographic Kids: Almanac 2014. The kids this year have really been interested in nonfiction books. They gravitate toward them at library and in the classroom. This book was perfect because of that. There are many different kinds of things to learn about and interesting facts throughout the whole book. There is something for everyone. The kids had a great time hearing about some of the facts we shared and were anxious to read more.

I was Born to be a Cowboy!

Last Thursday was the Fall Music Program. Grades one, three, five, and six participated in the program. The first graders had the parts of the cowboys. We sang western songs and even did a square dance. The kids worked really hard on all of their parts and loved practicing the songs. They still love singing them, even in the middle of class. Here are some pictures from the program. They did an awesome job!

Way to go Room 2!

Our class was in charge of the Mass this week. We had been working hard last week and this week to perfect everything. We practiced our readings, carrying things up the main aisle, when to bow, when to stand up, and when to sit down. It all came together today. We had a special Mass to honor Saint Theodore Guerin. The kids did a great job with everything. They should be very proud of themselves.

Pig Race Prize!

Back in September, when we wrapped up the magazine sale, our class won a prize at the final assembly. We were part of the famous pig race for reaching our classroom goal. "Speedy", our pig, came in second for our race. As a reward for the pig race, we won an ice cream party. The kids anxsiously awaited the party. We finally had our celebration. The kids each got a bowl of ice cream and were able to put lots of different toppings on it. They had a great time going through the line, picking out their toppings, and of course enjoying the treat.
