Spirit Day and Crazy Hair

To finish Catholic Schools Week, we are in our spirit clothes and have our crazy hair. The kids look great and love seeing what each other did with their hair. Later today, we will be having a pep rally to finish Catholic Schools Week.

Dress Up Day

Yesterday was dress-up day for Mass during Catholic Schools Week. The kids looked so nice in their dress clothes. We also wrote thank-you notes to our parents for sending us to a Catholic School.

Celebrating Our Academic Achievement

Today, for Catholic Schools Week, we celebrated our academic achievement. To do so, we dressed to represent our favorite colleges. Indiana University was by far the most represented school in our class. I think I was the only one in the whole school supporting Franklin College...Go Grizzlies! Here are some pictures of the kids sporting some college school spirit.

By the way...I totally forgot to take pictures yesterday during Catholic Schools Week. Yesterday was white out the cold and all of the kids wore white. It looked like a giant snow storm had come through! Good thing it really hadn't.

Mix-Match Day

Today we started to celebrate Catholics Schools Week. Our theme this year is "Under God's Wings". Today, we dressed in our mix-matched clothes and celebrated our Faith.  We played a Catholic trivia game with our school families and we prayed the rosary in church this afternoon. The kids had some crazy clothes today and loved every minute of it.

Happy Birthday Addie!

On Friday we celebrated Addie's birthday. She brought in Barbie: The Pearl Princess, Pretty Pearl Princess. The story is a classic story of good and evil. The good of course wins. The kids loved listening to the story...even the boys. We don't have any Barbie books in our classroom library, so this will be a good addition.

Happy 100th Day!

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school. The students decorated their shirts with 100 items of different things. We had some very creative shirts this year. We did reading groups with all things 100. We read books about the 100th day of school. We thought about what we will do when we are 100 years old. We thought about what we would buy with $100. For math, we made a 100th day trail mix by counting 10 pieces of 10 different snacks to mix together. We also put together some 100 piece puzzles. The kids ended the day with enjoying the snack mix that we made. It was a great day had by all. Here are some pictures from the day.

Happy Birthday Noah!

Today we celebrated Noah's birthday. His actual birthday was yesterday, but we celebrated a day late because of the weekend. Noah brought in Bugs Hide and Seek by Laura Buller. The book was all about bugs that camouflage into their backgrounds to protect themselves. The students loved looking in the pictures trying to find the hidden bugs. Some bugs were easier to find than others. This will be another great addition to the classroom library.

Happy Birthday Isabella!

On Friday, we celebrated Isabella's birthday. Her birthday was over the weekend so we celebrated a little early. She brought in the book Creature Features: 25 Animals Explain Why They Look the Way They Do by Steve Jenkins and Robin Page. The book was very interesting about why some animals have certain features. Some features were to help protect them. Some were to help them fight. Some were to help them get their food. The kids were very intrigued with the facts that the book had in it. It was a good pick and will be a good addition to the classroom library.
