Happy Halloween!

Today we celebrated Halloween at school. All of the students came to school in their Halloween costumes. We did reverse trick-or-treating where the kids gave out canned meat to the teachers for the best costumes. All of the cans of meat will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul. This will definitely help fill a void there. We also had Mr. Shelburn visit and give a demonstration with dry ice. The kids were fascinated.

Happy Birthday Lucy!

On Friday, we celebrated Lucy's birthday. She brought in the book Click, Clack, Boo! A Tricky Treat by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. Since we are quickly approaching Halloween, this was a great story for the occasion. The kids all knew the story of Click, Clack, Moo so they were good at figuring out all the clues the book gives as to what is going to happen. It is a great holiday addition to our classroom library.

Happy Birthday Ekam!

Yesterday, we celebrated Ekam's birthday. Her birthday was over Fall Break, so we celebrated a little late. She brought in the book Sophia the First: The Perfect Tea Party. The students were so surprised to find out that Sophia was not around when I was a little girl. They could not believe how many princesses were not around for me. This book had a great message for the kids. While planning a tea party, Sophia learns that bigger is not always better. It is a great reminder for our kids who often focus on material things in life.

Happy Birthday Landon!

Yesterday, we celebrated Landon's birthday. His birthday was over Fall Break, so we celebrated a little late. He brought in the book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows: Stand Together!. Most of the kids were familiar with the movie, the characters, and the setting. This helped them enjoy the book even more. It talked about each of the turtles and their characteristics. It is another great addition to the classroom library.
