Happy Birthday Skylynn!
Today, we celebrated Skylynn's seventh birthday. To celebrate, she brought in The Good Little Bad Little Pig! by Margaret Wise Brown. It was a cute book about a little boy who wanted a pig for a pet. He didn't want just any pig, he wanted a pig that was a little good and a little bad. He got just what he wanted. It was a cute story with cute pictures.

Happy Birthday Manny!
Today we celebrated Manny's 7th birthday. He brought in the book Curious George Makes Pancakes by Margaret and H.A. Rey. There were a lot of great vocabulary words in the book to discuss and talk about with the kids. There were also some times where the students had to use the pictures to figure something out. The kids loved these added challenges to the story. It is another great addition to our classroom library.

Happy Birthday Nora P.!
Today we celebrated Nora P.'s birthday a day late. She brought in Pinkalicious: Puptastic! by Victoria Kann. This is an "I Can Read Stage 1" book which I love because the kids can read them by themselves with little to no help. These books really boost the students confidence in their reading ability. The students loved listening to how Pinkalicious was able to make friends with the neighbors dog Pinky.

Happy Birthday Lola!
Today we celebrated Lola's 7th birthday. She brought in the book Please, Mr. Panda by Steve Antony. The book was about a panda bear who has a box of doughnuts. Different animals asked for a doughnut and he would not give them one. Finally, a raccoon asked for a doughnut and he got one. The difference with how the raccoon asked was that he said "Please." This was a perfect book for today. For Monday Manners, we are talking about the importance of saying please and thank you. These are three little words that can make a big difference.

Happy Birthday Cameron!
We have gotten off to a great start this school year. The kids are doing a great job getting into the every day routines. Today we celebrated Cameron's 7th birthday. He brought in the book Blaze and the Monster Machiens: Zeg and the Egg. This is a "Step-Into-Reading" book which I love. It is easy for the kids to read by themselves and keeps their attention. The kids loved listening to the first birthday book of the school year.

Last Weeks of School!
We have been very busy with all sorts of different activities these last few weeks of school. Here are some of the highlights from Room 2:
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by making sombreros in Spanish class.
We had a guest speaker, Mrs. Kappel's aunt. She talked about her adventures with scuba diving and the ocean animals she has seen.
She showed us some of her scuba gear.
We have spent time getting the garden ready to plant the new crop of vegetables.
We used our microscopes to compare different soil samples.

Happy Birthday Addie H!
Today we celebrated Addie H.'s birthday. Her birthday is on Sunday, so we celebrated a couple of days early. Addie brought in There's Something in My Basement by Nicole Osborne. This book is written by her friend's mom about something scary in the basement that turns out to be the little boy's dad. She also brought There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books! by Lucille Colandro. The kids have heard other books similar to this, so they enjoyed being able to anticipate what was going to happen next. These are two great additions to the classroom library.
