Although I was not there at school to celebrate Christmas Week, I am still able to share some of the pictures from the week. I am sure the kids had a great time with all of the activities. They watched Christmas movies, had Christmas raffles, dressed up like different Christmas characters, played Christmas Bingo, and had a Christmas party. The week was filled with lots of fun and excitement. Here are a few pictures from different days.

Merry Christmas!
Well I left for Thanksgiving break fully expecting to be coming back the following Monday. Apparently, God had a different plan for me. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I began having regular contractions off and on. I woke up that Sunday morning around 3:00 and knew that I would not be at school Monday morning. I labored all day Sunday and finally at 2:05 am Monday, December 2, I gave birth to our first child. Although he made his appearance two and a half weeks early, Daniel Joseph Kappel is healthy and happy. We are very excited to have him in our lives, even if he came a little sooner than anticipated. I am sad to be missing the festivities of Christmas Week, but keep up with things that are happening by talking to Mrs. Rudolf. I took Daniel to meet the kids earlier this week and they were very intrigued. They had tons of questions about what he can and can't do, if it hurt, how I look different now, and anything in between. I miss the kids and staff at school dearly, but would not trade this time I get to spend with Daniel for the world. I appreciate all of the well wishes and prayers that have come our way. Thanks for everything. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today we came together as Pilgrims and Indians and celebrated Thanksgiving. The kids worked hard throughout the day making the food for our feast. We had a fabulous celebration in the afternoon.
First we gathered in the cafeteria to make our vegetable soup.
We ate our snack in the room to hold our stomachs over until the feast. We made cornbread in the room to go with our soup. |
We gathered together in the cafeteria to share our Thanksgiving Feast. It was delicious.

Happy Birthday Austin!
This week, we celebrated Austin's seventh birthday. He brought in the book Harry: The Dirty Dog by Gene Zion. It is the story of an adorable, but mischievous dog who loves getting dirty, but hates taking baths. The kids enjoyed the story as well as predicting what was going to happen next. We had lots of kids thinking about how they thought the story would end. It was a cute book and a great addition to our classroom library.

Grandparents Day!!!
Today was Grandparents Day. We had such a nice time visiting with our families and sharing different things we do here at school. We started by celebrating Mass together and having a special Veteran's Day program afterwards. Then, the grandparents visited the different classrooms and got to spend some time with their grandkids. I love seeing the smiles on the kids faces when they see their grandma or grandpa walk in the room. Enjoy some pictures from the day!
