Picture Day!
Today was picture day. It is a crazy and hectic day here at school, but I just love seeing how excited all of the kids get for their pictures. All of the kids looked so nice this morning. They kept asking "When are we going to get our pictures taken?". I tried to just tell them that we had to wait our turn. Patience is a hard thing when you are six and seven years old. They each stepped right up when it was their turn in front of the camera. I was there to fix and smooth any hairs out of place and to encourage a big smile. They all did great. I cannot wait to see how our pictures turn out.

Busy, Busy, Busy!
It has been a challenge to find a few extra minutes to write a post. We have been so busy at school. The kids are doing a great job adjusting to things and really getting the hang of the routine here in Room 2. My students become more independent each day and remember more things from the day before. It amazes me how much their minds are like sponges and how much they absorb. We have had a very busy first few weeks of school. We have been learning about living and nonliving things as well as plants and animals. We have jumped right into math with counting and place value. Other than just the normal day to day activities, we are also in full swing of the magazine sale. The magazine sale is by far the biggest fund raiser for the school. It supplies 67% of the PTO budget which pays for many of the field trips the students take throughout the year as well as teacher workshops and technology in the classroom. Our class has been doing a great job bringing in magazine orders. There are still two turn in days before the end of the sale. I anticipate the level of activity to continue in the weeks to come.

Library Day...Finally!
Today was our first day to go to the library to check out books. The kids were so excited. I wish I would have kept track of how many times the kids asked when we were going to library. It is so hard for them to wait for something so exciting. I even had one girl say this morning, "Library and PE in the same day. This is going to be the best day ever!" I love how they get so excited about the little things in life. It really makes me step back and focus on the things that can be exciting if I just let them be. The kids did a great job in library looking for books, picking books out, and checking them out using the computer. It has been a very exciting day!

Day 1
I cannot believe we have already started a new school year. The kids came in eager to get started and learn today. The kids did a great job learning all of the new routines and ways of the classroom. It is always hard for me to believe how independent the kids become by the end of the year. The beginning of the year helps me reflect on how far the kids come from the first day of school. I cannot wait to see the changes and growth of the kids. It will be a great year.
