Happy Birthday TJ!

Today we celebrated TJ's birthday. He brought in two books for us to read. First, we read Goodnight Ark by Laura Sassi. The book is of course about Noah's Ark and the animals going to sleep. The book is a rhyming book and a lot of the sentences continue on the next page. The kids loved trying to guess what the next word was going to be just by thinking of the rhyming words. He also brought in Rabbids Invasion: Rabbids at the Museum by Cordelia Evans. This is a beginning chapter book that most of the kids will be able to read on their own. These are both great additions to the classroom library.

Happy Birthday Maddie!

Today we celebrated Maddie's birthday. She brought in the book Minions: Who's the Boss?. It is based on the movie which many of the kids have seen. They knew many of the characters and what was going to happen next. All of the kids love the movie, the characters, and now the book. It is a fabulous addition to our classroom library.

Happy Birthday Juliana!

Yesterday, we celebrated Juliana's birthday with her book. She brought in Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krouse Rosentrhal. It was a book all about believing, even when we cannot see something. A unicorn believes that little girls are real and a little girl believes unicorns are real. The kids loved comparing the two directions the story took.

Happy 100th Day of School

Today, we celebrated the 100th day of school. The students were able to wear shirts that had 100 things on it. They came up with many great ideas. Throughout the day, the students wrote about what they would do with 100 dollars and worked on coming up with 100 words they know. We also made a snack mix by counting 10 items of 10 different foods to get to 100. The kids also worked on putting together 100 piece puzzles. It was a fun day all revolving around the number 100.

Blizzard Day

Today, the school looks like a blizzard came through. All of the kids are dressed in white. We have been having a Christmas Raffle throughout the day and watched Frosty the Snowman to go with the snow theme. Thankfully, no one got lunch on their clothes. Everyone stayed clean.

Christmas Shirt and Candy Cane Day

Yesterday, we celebrated the second day of Christmas Week. We all wore our best Christmas shirts with different Christmas headgear. We also focused on peppermints and candy canes. We made peppermint ornaments, read The Legend of the Candy Cane and watched the movie to go with it. The candy cane has so many hidden meanings that the kids did not know. It was like light bulbs going off when the symbols were pointed out to them.

The ornaments before they were baked.

The ornaments after they were baked and melted. They turned out great.

Nativity Day!

Today was the first day of Christmas Week and we started with a bang! We celebrated Nativity Day where the kids dressed up as different nativity characters. We had just about everything: Mary, sheep, shepherds, angels, stars. We also focused on nativity stories and activities throughout the day as well.
