Ice Cream Party!
Yesterday, we rounded out Dairy Week with an ice cream party. The kids were able to enjoy regular ice cream with lots of different choices for toppings. They devoured their ice cream. I would say it was a big success.

Dairy Farm Trip
Today we went to a dairy farm and got up close and personal with some cows. We saw how the cows get milked, where they live, and learned about dairy foods as well.
We went to the milk house to see where the milk is stored. |
We watched the workers hook the cows up to the milking machines. |
We all watched as 16 cows got milked at the same time. |
We went into the barn where the cows are when they are not getting milked. |
We got up close and personal during the cows snack time. |
It was a little chilly in the barn, but the kids loved seeing the cows. |
We got to test out the waterbed that the cows get to relax on throughout the day. |
We met 2 calves that were just 5 days old. |
The kids loved getting to pet the baby cows. |
We learned about making sure we are getting 3 servings of dairy each day to build strong bones. |
We played a matching memory game to finish our trip. |

Making Ice Cream
Yesterday, we made our very own ice cream. The kids had a great time seeing how the ingredients came together and froze to make some delicious ice cream.
First, we waited in line to get all of our ingredients: milk, sugar, and vanilla. |
We put our bags in bigger bags of ice and shook it up until it became ice cream. |
Still shaking... |
Taking a break from shaking... |
The boys enjoying their ice cream. |
The girls enjoying their ice cream. |

Happy Dairy Week!
Today is the beginning of Dairy Week. We switched classes with Mrs. Schultz and did different dairy activities. While the kids were in my room, we made cows out of paper plates. They turned out great!

Cultural Day!
Before Spring Break, we had celebrated Cultural Day. It was a day full of fun activities and speakers focusing on taking care of God's creation. Here are some pictures from the awesome day.
We started by learning about earthworms and compost bins. |
We prepared to go inside the giant earth balloon. |
We waited patiently to get our instructions before going into the balloon. |
We finally went inside the balloon. |
Meteorologist Kelly Greene from Channel 13 talked to us about climate change. |
We tried lots of different foods at the Food Fair. |
We played recycling BINGO. |
Brother Bob talked to us about St. Francis of Assisi and loving animals. |
We had a storyteller tell a story about having hope. |
We used recycled materials during arts and crafts to make maracas. |
Finally, Amazon John brought lots of animals for us and talked about loving all of God's creatures. |
