Apple Week Wrap-Up

Today was the final day of Apple Week. We finished things off by having our Apple Tasting Party. We had all sorts of different kinds of apples, apple dip, cheese cubes, marshmallows, and apple juice. The kids seemed to love everything! The weather was perfect, so we were able to enjoy our food outside at the pavillion. I want to thank all of the parents who helped in any way throughout the week: donating items, coming on the field trip, helping in the classroom, and helping today. We could not do half of the things we do without your help. Here are some pictures from today. Enjoy!

Apple Pizzas

Today, we made Apple Pizzas. The kids had a great time making the pizzas and taking ownership of putting them together. While groups were making their pizzas, the rest of us made our Johnny Appleseed "hats". We have talked a lot about the story of Johnny Appleseed and how he wore a pot on his head instead of a hat. Each student got to decorate their pot however they wanted. We then put them together to make the hat. Here are some pictures of us from today with our "hats" and making the apple pizzas. Enjoy!

We thought the big pillow looked like an apple.

Apple Activity Day

Today was our Apple Week Activity Day. We did all sort of different things in the classroom. In my room, we looked at the inside of the apple, made some apple fractions, made an apple out of paper, and did an apple word search. We then switched rooms and the kids did new activities in Mrs. Schultz's room. we had a great time! Here are the kids with their apples.

Apple Orchard Field Trip

Today, we had our field trip to Tuttle Orchards. We had perfect weather for our field trip. The kids had a great time. Thanks Tuttle Orchards for the wonderful field trip!! Here are some pictures from the trip.

We listened about how bees help us get apples.

We found the queen bee in the hive.

We saw the big refrigerator where the apples are stored.

We saw where the apples are washed.

We saw where and how the apples are sorted.

This is the machine that makes apple cider.

This is their very own weather station.

We talked about the different kinds of apples.

We even got to taste some of the apples.

We took a hayride out to pick some pumpkins.

Once the child found the pumpkin they wanted, they raised their hand and the guide cut it off the vine for them.

We rode the hayride back to where we started.

There was a hay maze for us.

Some of the kids turned into the animals!

The play area was awesome!

That is one busy tractor!
